Police in Kisumu is investigating the death of a school’s security guard who was allegedly killed at his place of work by suspected thugs in Nyando, Kisumu county.
Rabuor Primary School Head Teacher Nick Awuonda confirmed the incident saying that the guard was killed on Monday night by an unknown number of thugs who broke into the school compound.
According to Awuonda, the body was found lying in a pool of blood by school pupils.
“It is a sad morning for us, these thugs have stolen from the school for at least three time. They hit again last night, broke into the school and killed the security guard. It is sad but our worry is that all this is happening and the police post is just close to the school,” said Awuonda.
Property of unknown value was stolen from the school’s library and the head teacher’s office.
The Head Teacher further expressed concern how thugs have managed to break into the school three times despite the school being next to a police post.
“I am calling upon the relevant authorities to take their responsibility and guard the school as Standard Eight pupils are about sit for their KCPE, and such kind of incidents might demoralize the candidates,” he said.
The body was move to the mortuary as investigations continue.
