Kisii Governor Simba Arati has shared his excitement following the swearing in of a new deputy governor, Elijah Obebo at Gusii stadium on Monday, barely five months after the impeachment of Robert Monda.
Speaking during the swearing in ceremony of the new second in command, Arati sighted Obebo’s integrity and sheer firmness to service delivery.
“My elder brother Elijah,… there only two important things, say no to corruption and be faithful to the course, that’s my humble request.You were the chairman of the service board and indeed I’ve seen and not received any claim of you to have solicited even a penny,” Arati said excitedly.

Obebo who is the former Chairperson of the the Kisii County Public Service Board, acknowledged his appointment affirming to steer the county to greatness.
‘I accept appointment as the Deputy Governor of Kisii County Government. I retaliate my commitment, dedication and goodwill to deliver all your manifesto and vision for our great Kisii County,” Obebo stated.
Corruption and Gross Misconduct
The former deputy governor Robert Monda, was removed out of office in February this year, following his impeachment by Members of county assembly (MCA) in Kisii county, over cases of corruption, gross misconduct and embezzlement of funds.
Monda’s impeachment saw 53 MCA voting to send him home while 17 were against his removal.
the case was later on moved before the Senate where the impeachment was upheld with 39 senators in favor of the charges while four senators were against.

The ceremony took place at Gusii Stadium in Kisii County and was presided over by the county’s strongman Simba Arati.
