Father’s Day was celebrated on Sunday, with many taking to social media to celebrate their dads.

Media personality Grace Ekirapa took to her social media page to celebrate her hubby Pascal Tokodi,

She thanks him for being a present dad to their little girl,

‘’To the man who was born to be a father for real, thank you for being present . For all the nights you have stayed awake with AJ so that I Sleep. For the morning you guys have gone to play so that I get a few hours to sleep’’ She wrote

She prays that God’s wisdom and counsel  will always be his guide in his fatherhood journey .

On the same day ,there was an uproar on social media on whether single mothers should be celebrated.

The online battalion , shared mixed feelings as captured below,

‘’You are just an amazing mum and present parent! Being the solely responsible parent in your child’s life does not make you a father, you are just a great mum’’

‘’Yaani hatutaweza celebrate day yetu bila nyinyi kuingilia,I have never had men wishing themselves  happy mother’s day even after pulling both duties’’

‘’Just because her husband isn’t in the picture doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist ‘’

‘’Happy father’s day to all mums who play the role of the dad’

‘’Happy father’s Day to all super Women’’

“I am blessed to have single mom like you who has taken the best care of me as a mom and also as a dad.

Social media users however tend to think that resentful/overwhelmed women who do not have a supportive co-parent have long taken on the mantra : I am the mother and father.

However in the same measure  some believe  single mothers who have taken up the role of the Father should be celebrated too.
