Six Arrested, Cocaine, Bhang Recovered In Mathare Drug Den Raid

Police in Starehe Sub County yesterday arrested six people in connection with drug dealing and other criminal activities at Bridgestone and Colombia along Mathare River.

The officers in turn recovered One KG of Cocaine, Five KG Cannabis Sativa and other illicit brews.

The raid led by Starehe Sub County Police Commander William Sirengo saw the officers also recover a gambling machine.

“Today’s raid was aimed at dismantling these dens which had become a nuisance in the neighborhoods. At the end of the operation, six suspects were apprehended as others managed to evade arrest,” said NPS in a statement.

“The extent of the notoriety in the dens was evident as drugs, which included; one kg of heroine, five kilogrames of cannabis sativa and illicit brew were recovered. The dens also harboured several needles, alcohol pads, dagger and NSP Kits,” the statement further stated.

A man hunt has been launched for the other accomplices.

NPS has further asked the youth to desist from engaging in criminal activities.
