Six People Perish In Two Separate Road Accidents

Six perish and two injured in two separate road accident in Narok and Kirinyaga Counties.

In Narok,four died in the accident involving a private car, a pickup and a lorry that caught fire following the impact of the collision.

According to the witnesses the over speeding lorry  tea leaves clashed with the Toyota Axio before veering off the road mark and hitting a pickup before exploding burning the occupants  in the car beyond recognition.

Narok East Police Commander Jared Mwatu also confirmed the incident.

Elsewhere in Kirinyaga county two perished in separate accidents, in the first incident a middle age man was hit by a vehicle while crossing Makutano-Sagana Highway,and another incident on Kagio-Kutus road in which a vehicle belong to a local bakery  lost control  hitting a pedestrian who died on the spot.

The agitated local residents bayed to set the vehicle a blaze but the driver sped off to seek safety in the nearby police station.

National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) yesterday led the nation in commemorating those who perished in road carnage in the past one year.

According to NTSA approximately 2,300 people died in road accidents last year while another 6,729 were injured and maimed.,

NTSA stated that private cars led in accidents followed by PSVs.
