The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has rescued an underage child who was allegedly being abused by the aunt in Nairobi’s Jevanjee estate.
Six year old Sharon Ntinyari had allegedly been turned into a house-help by the aunt who is only known as Kereri.
Ntinyari is allegedly from Meru County and has been subjected to heavy duties and mistreatment by the aunt.
The girl’s plight was brought to the fore by Social Media User Honourable Matoh Ombudsman who claims that after observing the child’s condition, had a chat with her upon which she told her that she was suffering.
“Sharon is acting as househelp in Nairobi Ngara area jivanjee estate in the house of one lady named karei whom she refers to as the aunt. This innocent child is always stressful and since I have the habit of interacting with children I got to share story with this small girl until I felt like crying. The girl told me that she would like to go back to her mother at Nkinyinga village Meru county,” he posted on Facebook.
DCI upon receiving the information, acted swiftly and rescued the girl from the hands of the aunt.
“The child has been rescued and is in a safe home. The suspect; Ms Paula Kajuju Kainga will be taken to court tomorrow. Thank you all for contacting us on this issue,” said the DCI.
The aunt is expected to be arraigned in court today.
