A section of MCAs allied to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko have come out guns blazing to protest the impeachment of the governor claiming that it was flawed.
Led by Nairobi West MCA Maurice Gari, the MCAs claim that more than 19 MCAs had been logged into the County Assembly system as voters despite them being away in Ukunda.
Gari accused the county clerks and employees of loging into the system usin the MCAs details and voting.
“The process of the assembly has gone wrong we have not voted, everybody’d phone was off and apparently MCAs here have been logged in and they have been voted for,” said Gari.
They have now vowed to hold protests in the city and impeach County Speaker Ben Mutura.
“So we are telling Mutura it is not business as usual we will take you back to the sender if Mutura cannot recant what he did not do today, mutura woun’t sit in that assembly,” said Gari.
Also in their list of firing is Majority leader Abdi Guyo.
The MCAs had been transported to Kwale by Sonko in a bid to scuttle the impeachment process by denying the county assembly numbers.
Speaker Mutura on Thursday declared that over 88 MCAs voted to impeach Sonko while only two abstained.
