Despite the Public Service Commission taking a section of Nairobi county government employees after the transfer of functions reached between the national government and the county ,Nairobi county governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday controversially promoted 6271 county staff member.According to the governor, the county is mandated to do so.
Addressing the media governor Sonko’s spokesperson Ben Mulwa said the county government through public service board is the sole employer and that the employees were only seconded to Nairobi Metropolitan services. “The staff still remained with us, we only seconded them to NMS. We do everything including human resource issues and the governor in deed promised that he will promote them before the end of his regime” Mulwa said.
The governor has been at logger with NMS criticizing the manner in which the county government employees were picked by the public service commission. He insist the employees belong to the county government of Nairobi.
