The process to impeach the governor Mike Sonko has kicked off following the tabling the impeachment motion by Embakasi MCA Michael Ogada who also doubles up as minority leader.
In the motion 86 Members Of County Assembly out of 123 have appended their signatures to send Sonko home.
“Mr. Speaker I beg to move this motion to impeach the governor of Nairobi Mr Mike Mbuvi Sonko..one thing I did confirm is that we as members of this house signed and we have 86 signatures and therefore I beg to give the notice,” he stated.
In the motion Ogada has accused Sonko of graft, incapacity to serve,criminal offences and abuse of office.
“The county governor has committed a crime under international laws,abuse of office ,gross misconduct, physical and mental incapacity to perform,” he added.
Sonko recently dared State House to impeach him claiming that the moves are a broad scheme to intimidate him but today the writings are on the wall that gloves are off.
The motion will be executed in 7 days.
