Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations following claims that he sponsored violence in 2017 with PS Karanja Kibicho.

DCI Director George Kinoti says that Sonko and his lawyers have been served to appear at the headquarters for questioning on Monday.

According to Kinoti, he is expected to answer to allegations of incitement and causing fear to the public.

“He was served in the presence of his lawyers with summons to appear on Monday to answer to various allegations of incitement to cause despondency, fear and apprehension to the public,” said DCI Director George Kinoti.

On Monday PS Kibicho presented himself at the DCI following claims that he worked with Sonko to dress goons in ODM T-Shirts and burnt cars along Ngong Road.

Kibicho has since declared a legal battle against Sonko and has asked him to prepare some good lawyers.

Sonko made the inflammatory remarks on Sunday during a rally at Waithaka in Dagoretti South Constituency.
