Sonko To Make First Public Appearance After His Corruption Woes With EACC
After a brief battle with Ethics and anti corruption detectives Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is expected to make first public appearance this Saturday at New Ruai market in Ruai Ward.
The governor has been avoiding the public and his Cityhall office ever since his grilling by EACC officers after he was implicated in corrupt dealings in garbage tenders.
Sonko’s date with EACC attracted a lot of speculations including reports of imminent arrests.
Acting County Secretary Lebo Morintat who is now second in command maintains that the governor is okay and is undertaking his duties normally.
At CityHall Sonko’s absence is vividly felt with reduced activities at the county headquarters.
Notably, his public phone numbers are also unreachable.
Sonko’s Director of Communications Elkanah Jacob has on the other hand rubbished claims that the governors communications channels are inactive .
‘‘Everythings is okay and people should ignore what is going around on social media that the governor is facing arrest..this Saturday we have partnered with several organisations and we shall have our monthly clean up in Ruai as we also mark the commemoration of world clean up day.’’ said Jacob.
