Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been transferred to Kamiti Maximum GK Prison for detention.
The ex-county chief’s lawyer, John Khaminwa, stated that the governor who is facing over 12 counts of charges in court was transferred to Kamiti from the Gigiri Police Station.
It remains unclear why Sonko who had earlier unsuccessfully sought to be moved to Muthaiga Police Station over alleged threat on his life was taken to Kamiti.
Sonko, will tomorrow at 4pm know whether he will be freed on cash bail or not.
Sonko is facing various charges including robbery with violence, assault and forcible entry of property in Buruburu Phase Four.
The matter will be handled by the Kiambu Law Courts.
