Nairobi County Assembly leadership has maintained that the impeachment motion against Governor Mike Sonko will proceed despite Labour Relations Court order barring them from proceeding with it.

Led by Deputy Majority Leader Peter Wanyoike, Minority whip Peter Imwatok the MCAs say that Labour Court cannot preside over constitutional matters and that their lawyers are handling the same.

“No one can injunct another body from executing its conditional mandate. We know our courts but I can assure you we shall make our minds on what we want to see in Nairobi.. Sonko will be impeached and after the impeachment motion we shall parade all the MCAs here,” Imwatok said.

Meanwhile the Jubilee Party has kicked out Mark Ndungu as Member of the Assembly Service board and replaced with Charles Thuo.

Jubilee has also extended its sword suspending Millicent Jagero, Ann Thumbi and Syvia Museiya for three months from the Jubilee Party consequently 6 months from all committees.

” This is to confirm the position of the party with regard to members of Nairobi county assembly who appeared before Jubilee Party National Disciplinary Committee on 27th November 2020…That they be suspended from all committees for six months..That they are suspended from the Jubilee party for three months.” A letter from Jubilee reads in part.
