Betting firm SportPesa has been unveiled as the official sponsors of Gormahia Football club with a sponsorship deal of Ksh. 240 Million.
The sponsorship deal which will run for three years, will see SportPesa give Gormahia Ksh. 80 Million per year for a period of three years.
Speaking during the launch, SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri expressed delight in sponsoring the team which he described as Kenya’s biggest football team.
“We are happy to be back in Kenya, as most of you know we we did not leave Kenya willingly but we were forced to leave. I remember when we Started sponsoring clubs, Gormahia was our first club and by the time we were leaving, the clubs ratings had gone up very very high,” said Kararuri.
“I want to believe that today is the day that we are going to bring back the Kenyan football back to where it was,” he said.
Karauri says that the SporPesa will also partner with Gormahia’s management team to ensure that the welfare of the players is looked into.
“SportPesa is still the same SportPesa, I know with the league starting and Gormahia will be back … We will partner with the management to ensure that the players are well taken care of.Ours is to ensure that the team and the whole technical bench is well taken care of,” he said.
Gormahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier has described the sponsorship as the highest the club has ever received.
He thanked SportPesa for raising the bar of sports sponsorships in the country.
