Sportpesa All Stars Flagged Off
Sportpesa All Stars team are set to leave for the UK on Wednesday to face the English Premier League outfits Hull city on Feb 28th 2017.
The much anticipated encounter with Hull City will be broadcasted live by a local media house.
Speaking at the press briefing, Sportpesa C.E.O Ronald Karauri termed the initiative as a historic one as it sees the first team from the Kenyan soil to ever play against a team from the UK.
“I am very excited to witness Sportpesa All Stars flagged off for a historic trip to the United Kingdom to play a historic match against Hull City, I urge the players to utilize the opportunity for their personal growth and development in football,” said Karauri.
Sportpesa , Kenya Airways(KQ), Football Kenya Federation(FKF),Kenya Premier League (KPL) and Kenya Tourism Board have partnered in the flagging off the team.
Karauri also appreciated KQ and Kenya Tourism Board for partnering in order to see a successful journey of the team going to Europe.
The C.E.O also revealed that the betting firm’s sponsorships locally and abroad are long lasting.
Kenya Premier League vice chairman, Ambrose Rachier was in attendance and represented the football governing body in the nation .
Rachier said that football in the country will grow rapidly if companies followed the move taken by Sportopesa in developing local talent .He thanked the betting company for great work done in promoting football in the nation and abroad.
“I thank Spotpesa Company for coming through in developing and growing football talents in Kenya and even beyond the borders, I also challenge KQ and other established companies to follow the path taken by Sportpesa as our talent needs to be nurtured,”Rachier stated.
Also in the press briefing at the Safaricom Kasarani Stadion Hotel was Football Kenya Federation(FKF) C.E.O Robert Muthomi representing FKF .
“This is a historic event that will go down to the nation’s football history and I must confess that am extremely happy to witness this. To the players you must embrace this chance and make something good out of it as you are well exposed, Muthomi said.
Kenya Tourism Board will brand the team and the company’s officials will also accompany it to the United Kingdom on Wednesday 22nd 2017 for match scheduled for Feb 28th 2017.
The team is expected market the country considering the match will be played both home and away against the tigers.
