Gaming firm SportPesa has announced a Ksh 75 million partnership deal with Shabana FC, a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side.

The sponsorship, unveiled on Thursday afternoon, will see SportPesa become the main sponsor of the Kisii-based club for the next three seasons, starting with the 24/25 top-flight campaign set to kick off on August 24.

The unveiling ceremony, attended by club patron Hon. Simba Arati, who is also the current Kisii Governor, highlighted SportPesa’s commitment to supporting Kenya’s sporting ecosystem. Shabana FC becomes the third top-flight club sponsored by SportPesa, following Gor Mahia and Murang’a Seal.

“Today marks another big milestone for us in the sponsorships and partnerships realm. We have been in this game for a while, and going forward, the Shabana management, players, and fans should know they have a reliable partner,” said SportPesa Head of Operations Bernard Chauro. “Shabana has one of the most passionate fan bases in the country, and we would love to see them competing at continental levels alongside our other sponsored teams.”

Hon. Simba Arati lauded SportPesa’s support and encouraged the club to use the funds wisely. “This is a big event for us. I want to thank SportPesa for this partnership. To the management, let’s ensure we protect this money from those who may try to cause division,” he urged.

Known for having a loyal following, Shabana FC made their return to the Kenya Premier League in the 23/24 campaign after a 17-year absence and managed to stay in the top flight by finishing 14th under the guidance of former Kenyan international Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo.

Shabana will kick off their 24/25 season with an away match against Bidco United at Thika Stadium on Saturday, August 24.
