Kenya women’s national team Harambee Starlets face a daunting task in the final match of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Botswana.
Coach Beldine Odemba named 23 players as part of the travelling team for their second leg of the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) which is set to be played on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Gaborone, Botswana.
Starlets head into the match with all to play for, having drawn the first leg 1-1, coming back from a goal down and missing a crucial penalty in stoppage time.
Starlets came from behind after conceding past the half-an-hour mark before failing to capitalize on a golden opportunity to convert a penalty and take the lead going into the second leg.
Should Harambee Starlets emerge as the aggregate winners of the two-legged qualifier, they will qualify for the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Morocco, making their second appearance in seven years.
They left for Botswana on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 5 a.m. and they will fly back home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
