Starlets receive strong Support
Harambee Starlets is one lucky team following the strong support they receive from Football Kenya Federation as they prepare for African Women Championships qualifier match against DR Congo this weekend.
Only last week, David Ouma had a sigh of relief when the federation through the Vice President Dorris Petra assured that the coach would not be replaced for consistency.
Petra stated that Ouma will continue to be the coach given the short time the women’s team have for the match to be played.
Sentiments echoed by FKF CEO Robert Muthomi
“The girls are okay and have the potential to do well since they are quite skilled. David Ouma is also a very good coach but the only challenge is the leagues were not in session so the girls were not in proper shape”
He has however assured that the performance specialist Michael Igendia was working round the clock to ensure that the team is back to shape and assured that will be worked on.
Adjustments, according to him are expected to be made this week within the team in camp as more players stream in from school which have been more active.
24 Harambee Starlets players out of the called up 30 were present at the team’s residential camp by Thursday with the number expected to have risen at the start of the week.
