Harambee Starlets are set to play Botswana in the final round of the 2024 Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers after prevailing 4-3 on post-match penalties against Cameroon.

The match ended 1-0 in favor of Harambee Starlets during regulation time. Cynthia Shilwatso’s free kick in the 81st minute found the back of the net tying the game 1-1 on aggregate.

Annedy Kundu was instrumental saving a crucial penalty before Sheryl Angachi stepped up to score the winning penalty ensuring qualification to the second round.

Starlets Coach Beldine Odemba was elated with performance of the team praising the girls for following instructions.

‘am happy with the girls as they have played according to my instructions and hence the performance,” he narrated.

The match against Botswana will take place between November 27 and December 5.

Beldine said that they will prepare accordingly against Botswana who beat Gabon 10-1 on aggregate saying that they will not underestimate their opponents despite slaying African Giants Cameroon.

“Despite defeating a team that has been playing in the World Cup we will not take our next game against Botswana lightly so we will prepare well, “she concluded.

The victor of the second round will secure automatic qualification for the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, to be hosted in Morocco.
