A suspected drug pedder Teresia Wanjiku and two minors will be detained for five days to enable police to complete investigations into her drug trafficking ring.
Wanjiku and the two minors were detained on orders if JKIA law court Senior Principal Magistrate Njeri Thuku.
She allowed a police request to have the suspects detained for five days to enable police to complete investigations.
In her ruling, she said the state has satisfied that it has reasonable grounds to have the suspects detained for five days.
The court directed that the two minors’ age be established and the report be filed in court.
” Going by their apparent age, it would be callous and unjust to have them held in facilities that is not suitable for them as juveniles,” said Thuku.
The magistrate directed the two juveniles to be remanded at the child protection unit at Muthangari police station.
Teresia will be detained at JKIA police station.
The magistrate allowed the application by Lawyer Danstan Omari and Martina Swiga to have Teresia treated while at the custody.
The suspects were arrested in connection with drug trafficking and ksh 13 million recovered. The magistrate directed the money be deposited at the Central Bank of Kenya.
The case is to be mentioned on August 28th for further directions.
