Police have arrested a man who has been physically abusing his step son in Pipeline Estate in Embakasi East Constituency.
A video doing rounds on social media shows the two year old boy with swollen lips and burn wounds on the cheeks.
Sophie Julliet an activist who recorded the boy claims that the boy’s step father has been abusing him under the mother’s watch.
According to Julliet, the boy’s step father has been abusing him and locking him inside the house in order to dispel suspicion from people.
“Every time they beat this boy they hide him indoors for days. I will not rest till he gets justice, sorry have to bring him publicly ,I don’t see anything to hide,” said Julliet.
According to Julliet, the boy’s sister says that before he suffered the burn wounds on his cheeks, the step father burnt the boy’s legs to the extent he would not play.
The step father was arrested on Tuesday.
The constitution of Kenya protects children from various forms of abuse including physical, sexual, psychological and mental injury.
The above offence are punishable by a custodial sentence not exceeding one year and/or a fine of up to Ksh. 50,000.
