Stop Forceful Eviction; Westlands Mp tells Government

Westlands Member of Parliament  Tim Wanyonyi is now calling on the government  to intervene on the issue of rents that has seen many tenants who are not able to pay being evicted.

In an interview with Ghetto Radio News  Wanyonyi asked landlords to also understand the economic effect that has been brought by the Coronavirus pandemic.

He added that it is not prudent for landlords to keep on kicking out tenants who are not able to pay their rents on time.

‘‘We are asking the government to intervene on this matter. It is not right for landlords to evict tenants. They should at least give a grace period of three months. It is not much to ask.’’ He said.

However, he told the government to have a clear plan on how it shall feed the poor should the pandemic squeeze the country into a total lock-down.

‘‘The government  must be well prepared but as we speak what we see is partial lock-down and  still not clear on what will happen next.’’ He said.

Tim has received food donations and is gearing distributions in collaboration with the government to ensure regulations on the same is observed.
