Street Boy Stirs Social Media With His Fluent English

street childNairobi Senator Mike Sonko is looking for a 15-year-old street boy whose command of English as captured in a video, has stirred social media.

Morris Mwenda was recorded by a volunteer of the Homeless of Nairobi charity group, speaking fluent English that not many Kenyans can speak currently.

In the video, Mwenda asked the Nairobi government in the two-minute clip to give them opportunities.

“We have this service we call the National Youth Service. They started clearing us. I thought by clearing us they would take us to a better place where we would go and sleep, go to school and so on and so forth, but they were just clearing us,” he said.

“My message to the government is; let us give these people the opportunity; only that – no more, no less”.

Morris, who said he has been on the streets for a year now, urged Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to give street families opportunities.
