Strict Prison Rules Lock Vybz Kartel From Social Media

Incarcerated Jamaican dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel has finally been barred from using social media while behind bars after being transferred to a new correctional facility.

The ‘Worl Boss’ as his fans fondly refer to him had kept a tab on Instagram while engaging with the outside world. His last post ran on May 20th.

The ‘Clarks’ Singer’s transfer was confirmed by his attorney, Isat Buchanan revelation to the press.

“Kartel has been moved from Spanish Town to Horizon Remand,” said Buchanan.

Word on the street is that the transfer is part of the government’s plan to move high ranking criminals to the newly constructed cells at Horizon Remand with a strict restriction to cell phones.

In 2018, he was moved from Tower Street Adult Correctional Center in Kingston to St Catherine District Prison after a video emerged of him enjoying a blunt (weed) while at the facility.

Kartel had gone as far as castigating the Jamaican government when it stated that dancehall was a catalyst to the Island’s surging crime rate.

Taking to Instagram he rubbished the claims and said the prison’s most offenders were the police and pastors.

It is at the St Catherine correctional center that Kartel teamed up with fellow jailed singer Tommy Lee for the release of their collaboration ‘Dark Ages’ two months ago.

Kartel is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, his defense team is however lodging an appeal on grounds that their client was fixed.

Will the transfer finally mark as an end to Kartel releasing music?
