After a series of failures, Shabana FC is now looking to make a huge comeback this follows the firing of head Coach Sammy Okoth.The decision was made by the teams management following a number of the teams underperformance in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.This was confirmed through a statement yesterday evening by the club’s management.

It is with mutual agreement that we have decided to part ways with our head coach, Sammy Okoth, and goalkeeper trainer, Collins Oduor,” part of the statement read.

“As a club, we deeply value and appreciate the significant contributions and unwavering dedication they have exhibited throughout their tenure with our organisation. We extend our heartfelt best wishes for their future endeavors,”

 Okoth Resignation 

Interestingly, Okoth had resigned just a week before the decision to let him go, following a tough 4-0 defeat against Ulinzi Stars. However, he was reinstated in time for the Gor Mahia game, which they also lost 1-0.

“Everything didn’t go right and it is very unfortunate it happened this way. I am not okay with whatever happened and I feel I should let go at the moment and I should just relax and let someone else come and do the job,” the coach said after the game with ulinzi stars where they were beaten 4-0.

In the absence of Okoth, Oscar Kambona, who is the deputy coach, has now been elevated to handle the team on an interim basis.

“In the interim, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Oscar Kambona as the coach while we actively engage in the search for a suitable replacement for this vital position,”

Goalkeeper trainer Collins Oduor was also fired yesterday.

During Okoth’s tenure, Shabana FC managed to secure just one victory against Tusker, drawing five matches and losing four.

Shabana is now  gearing up to face Nzoia Sugar at Homabay Stadium on the upcoming Sunday, eager to improve their performance in the league.
