Style Industries Workers Protest Victimization And Abuse
Over 150 workers of Style Industries, known for making Darling Hair Brand are have staged protests outside the company’s offices in Industrial area over an alleged victimization by the company’s management.
The workers claim that the company’s management is unprocedurally dismissing them from their duties over unfounded claims of theft.
One of the employees who spoke to Ghetto Radio says that recently the company dismissed them from work without giving them their dues.
According to the employee who spoke to Ghetto Radio News, he has worked for the company for more than nine years only to be dismissed unprocedurally.
He says that when he demanded payment of his dues, he and other employees were accused of stealing stuff from the company.
“Just the other day, they suspended us and told us that goods were lost but we know that there were no goods that were lost because it was a game plan for them to dismiss us without paying us our dues,” he said.
According to him the suspension was to pave way for investigations whose results were never given to them.
Margaret Nderitu, Deputy General Secretaruy of Kenya Union of Hair and Beauty Workers accused the company of victimizing members of the union.
“This is not the first time they are doing this. Management is doing this to kill the union that is supposed to fight for the workers,” she said.
