Suspect Behind Mirema Broad-daylight Shooting Freed

Denis Karani Gachoki, the man accused of shooting a man in broad daylight in Mirema has been freed by the Milimani Court.

Gachoki was freed by Principal Magistrate Carolyne Muthoni Njagi after he was cleared of a murder charge leveled against him.

Gachoki who had been in police custody for two weeks was discharged after the prosecution failed to find any evidence linking him to the killing of Samuel Muvota.

After his death, a statement by the DCI had profiled Muvota as a criminal who was involved in a trail of robbery cases and stupefying revelers’ drinks before stealing from them.

“The respondent  has been  Cooperative and has given  us easy  time during  the entire  period  of the investigation, so I’m  requesting  the miscellaneous  file be closed, for we have  not found  any evidence  linking  the Denis  Karani  with murder,” said the prosecuting officer.

The accused  person  will however  remain  in the police  custody  after  he was charged  yesterday  at  Makadara  law  Court  for allegedly committing  felony

Gachoki was charged that with others not before the court drugged David Kaikai then stole Sh. 564,647 from different banks accounts among other valuables from a complainant identified as David KaiKai.

“Based on the remand order by Makadara law Courts, we are requesting that the accused person remains in custody,” said the prosecution.
