Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in the Kware killings that claimed the lives of at least 42 women, has escaped from Gigiri Police Station along with 12 Eritrean nationals who were being held for illegal immigration.

The escape was discovered at approximately 5:00 AM when Constable Gerald Mutuku, the officer in charge, conducted a routine check to serve breakfast to the detainees.

Eritrean Immigrants Among Those Who Escaped

To his shock, Khalusha, along with the 12 Eritrean immigrants, was nowhere to be found.

Khalusha had been held at the Gigiri Police Station under close watch, awaiting his arraignment for a plea hearing related to the Kware murders.

His escape has raised serious concerns about the security and oversight at the police station, given the high-profile nature of his case.

The Sub-County Police Commander, the Sub-County Criminal Investigation Officer (SCCIO), and the duty officer from Gigiri immediately visited the scene and initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine how the escape occurred and to track down the fugitives.

The escape has prompted a manhunt, with law enforcement agencies under pressure to recapture the suspect.

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin confirmed the incident and stated that a fresh operation had been launched to locate Khalusha and the other escapees.

The DCI is coordinating with other security agencies to ensure that the fugitive is quickly apprehended.
