A suspected thug was on Sunday arrested by Police in Kiambu and a Toyota Fielder he allegedly stole recovered.

The suspect is alleged to be a member of a car theft syndicate with his colleagues who escaped the police.

The suspect was arrested at his rental apartment in Mugutha Estate, Ruiru, following a tip off from members of the public.

Addressing the press after arresting the culprit, Kiambu County Commander Adiel Nyange said they found the suspect armed with a pistol and ready to shoot when they raided his house.

During the operation, police also recovered a cache of other items including assorted number plates, breakage tools, a batch of car keys among others.

Following interrogation, the suspect is reported to have led the police to a home in Kisii Estate, Thika, where a black Toyota Fielder believed to have been stolen was recovered. The home is suspected to be one of the hide outs for the suspects.

According to Nyange, the recovery of the items was a result of a joint operation between officers in Nairobi and Kiambu, where the syndicate is believed to have been carrying out their operations.
