Suspected Thug Shot By Police, Lynched By Angry Mob

A suspected thug was yesterday killed by a mob in Capital Hill Estate in Ruai area.

The thug had allegedly been shot and injured by a police officer after he caught him with two other colleagues robing two ladies when the angry mob descended on him.

A statement from the DCI states that the pleas to the mob from Seargent Samuel Mutuku to have the suspect arraigned in court fell on deaf ears.

“Pleas by Sgt Mutuku to let the man face justice in a court of law fell on deaf ears, as the bloodthirsty mob applied the law of the jungle and killed the thug on the spot,” reads the DCI statement.

Seargent Mutuku who was on his way to work shot and injured the suspect after he found them robbing two ladies.

The two ladies Anne Wanjiru and Lillian Mueni were on their way to work when they were accosted by the suspect and his two colleagues.

“A police officer from our sister service @APSKenya Sergeant Samuel Mutuku, was headed to work when he witnessed the daring attack. He swiftly unholstered his firearm a ceska semi-automatic pistol, loaded with enough rounds of 9mm and ordered the thugs to slowly lift up their hands in surrender, lest he opens fire,” says the DCI.

DCI Seargent Mutuku responded swiftly and shot at one of the thugs, seriously injuring him as the other two fled.

“The miscreants defied the order and turned back to attack him. But the experienced sergeant with a distinguished career in protection of life and property was too smart for their antics. He opened fire, seriously injuring one of them as the others took flight,” said the DCI.

The other two thugs escaped on foot after their getaway motorbike was impounded by the police.

“The getaway motorbike registration number KMFL 494T, was impounded as detectives dig more details into the identity of the suspects,” said the DCI.

A mobile phone that had been snatched from one of the victims was recovered from the suspect. Also recovered was a long sword and a machete.
