Suspected thug who escaped police custody in handcuffs re-arrested

A Police in Rodi Homabay County yesterday re-arrested suspected thief who had escaped police custody in handcuffs last month.

Apollos had been arrested in March 14th for allegedly stealing a motorbike in Oruga area in Homabay County.

The area Chief Isaiah Ouma who had arrested him says that the suspect overpowered him and fled with the handcuffs.

“It was reported by the area assistant chief South Kanyabala mr Isaiah Ouma that on 14/3/2021 at around 2300hrs. He went to effect an arrest of a motorbike theft suspect at Oruga. He managed to arrest him though he was overpowered him after handcuff and the guy fled with the cuffs,” read the OB.

He was however re-arrested yesterday. Police say that he had managed to cut the hand cuffs from his right hand but the one on his left sunk deeply into his flesh, seriously injuring him.

He was later rushed to Homabay county referral Hospital for medical attention.

Police officers reportedly tried to remove  the cuffs without any success.
