Teachers get back to school in preparation for re-opening of schools

Primary and Secondary school teachers have returned to school as directed by the government in what looks like an early preparation for the re-opening of schools.

A spot check conducted by Ghetto Radio in various schools within Nairobi indicated a beehive of activities that included teaching and re-organization of the school.

River Bank Primary School Deputy Headteacher Kwanzi Andenyi told Ghetto Radio news that they have so far experienced 100 percent turn out of teaching and non teaching staff at the school.

“I have seen a 100 percent turn out of both the teaching and non teaching staff. Currently we are just cleaning as we wait for more instructions from the president,” said Andenyi.

Andenyi however expressed concern over the implementation of Covid-19 restrictions like social distancing and sanitzation owing to the fact that not most schools are well equipped with desks and sanitization facilities.

“The desks that we currently have are currently being shared by three pupils, so when they make it one desk per student, we will have a shortage. We are appealing to well-wishers to help us deal procure more desks,” she said.
