Teams Guilty of Age-Cheating to face Punishment
Kenya Premier League Chairman Ambrose Rachier has warned that teams found guilty of age-cheating in the third Edition of KPL U20 Tournament will face disqualification.
Rachier was speaking during the KPL’s third Edition of U20 draw that was conducted at the Southern Mayfair Hotel Nairobi on Tuesday 2 August 2016.
Giving an example of Zambia, Rachier reiterated that “There will be heavy penalties for age cheating this time round. We saw Zambia being disqualified from the COSAFA Under 20 Championships we are going to the same”.
Rachier added that KPL has employed an investigator to look into issues of age cheating and bribery.
“Once the findings are out we will forward them to the Independent Disciplinary and Complains Committee (IDCC) who will decide on the penalties which can range from fines, bans, suspension or even disqualification.”
Meanwhile Defending Champions Ulinzi Stars will battle with Quarter-finalists AFC Leopards,Chemelil Sugar,and Sofapaka in Pool D of the Kenyan Premier League U20 August Edition.
The Tournament set to kick off in August 13 and 14 will see the First Runners up Kakamega Homeboyz clash with Posta Rangers,Thika United and Tusker in Pool A Whereas Gor Mahia,Ushuru Fc,Sony Sugar as well as Muhoroni Youth will play in Pool C.
Mathare United, Bandari , Western Stima and Nairobi City Stars fall in Pool B.
Winners of the day will carry home 500,000 shilling while the First Runners up will take 300,000 shillings. Second runners up will take 100,000 shillings.
