Eluid Simiyu popularly known as mwalimu yesu, a self-proclaimed god in Tongaren, Bungoma County tables his rules for making it to heaven.
He dropped out of school in form one and started farming, got married at 20 years old and has eight children. Regarded by his faithful as the messiah who has powers to heel and perform miracles, men worship and kneel before him.
Here are ten things that will take you to hell by Bumgoma’s god, Eliud Simiyu.
- Women putting on men clothes for example trousers
The bible says in the book of Deuteronomy 22:5 that “A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God.”
2. Eating pig, dog, donkey and camel meat
“Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you.” Pig meat specifically is considered dirty in the bible for it does not chew cud.
3. Applying make up
Specifically Apostolic do not apply make-up, wear long dresses and cut their hair.
1 Peter 3:3-4 “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
4. Body piercing
5. Tattooing your body
6. Applying Lipstick
It is not clear what the Bible say about piercing, tattooing and applying lipstick as a sin but can be captured as marking your body which is not encouraged and against bible teachings. Leviticus can be heavily relied upon to qualify it as marking one’s body which is a sin.
Leviticus 19:28, “You shall not make gashes in your flesh for the dead, or incise any marks on yourselves.”
7. Wearing rings
Wearing rings was never required in the bible including a wedding ring and doesn’t appear as necessary. Mankind uses it to give authority to the two persons in a marriage as a symbol. It is a practice that was started by Egyptians as their tradition and has no religious consequence.
Exodus 32:2-3. Aaron said to them, “Tear off the gold rings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.”
8. Ignoring the Sabaath Day
Although it is contentious which day should be the rest day between Sunday and Saturday? Saturday, or the seventh day is the only day in all of scripture designated using the term Sabbath.
9. Ignoring the 7-day rest after funerals
This is widely practiced in the African tradition and mostly in Kenya in the western part of the country. It is dedicated to the dead and practiced by family and close members. Some observe up to fourty days rest after funeral.
10. Having more than one wife
He argues polygamy introduces jealousy among the co-wives which can drive them to sin. It destabilizes the family unit. Polygamous man can be considered a sinner for causing distress to another human being in this case the co-wives. The men usually not allowed to occupy any position of leadership in the church and other fields.
So, which one by his opinion will give you a straight ticket to hell?
