Tension As Mysterious Man Is Arrested For Loitering With Guns In Nairobi

Police have arrested and are questioning a man who was spotted loitering in Pangani, Nairobi with an AK 47 rifle and magazine pouches strapped on his chest.

The mysterious man was arrested following a tip off to the Starehe Police Division from members of the public.

Police say he was spotted at around 8 am near the Asmara Club in Pangani before the tip off was made.

He claims to be a police stationed in Dadaab.

“OCPD Pangani has him and is following with Dadaab to establish if he is indeed a police officer,” stated a source.

Gun rules in Kenya demand that armed police officers do not unnecessarily display their firearms when dressed in civilian clothes.

In 2015, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s bodyguards were disarmed after they allegedly brandished their guns at the Lee Funeral Home while dressed in civilian clothings causing tension.
