The chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) David Oginde has said that majority of projects that are being done in the country are driven by corruption.
While speaking on the fight against corruption in Kenya Oginde said that that the projects are initiated with a clear mind on how the initiators are going to benefit.
“I can tell you for a fact in a short while that I have been in this institution, I have come to believe that almost every project that is done in this country is done because of corruption. It is initiated with a clear mind that this is what we are going to get because the number of files and cases that come into our offices, you look at the project that you were so happy as an ordinary Kenyan only to find that men and women had planned for that project,” said Oginde.
EACC believes that journalists are the best people to work with in fight against corruption
In an event held at a city hotel that was attended by top EACC officials, the Commission’s Chief Executive Officer, Twalib Mbarak, believes that media is the best entity that can assist the commission in asserting recovery.
“Media is the best entity that can assist EACC in asserting recovery. We are looking on how we can build capacity, we talked about journalists being sued. We know sometimes it is deliberate and bringing you people down. I love Kenyan media since it is very neutral. EACC has never taken any journalist to court and it will never do since we know the benefits of media to EACC,” said Twalib Mbarak.
