The Enraging Insecurity In Kawangware

Kawangware residents have expressed concern over the growing insecurity incidents reported in the area in the recent past.

The residents have specifically mapped out Kawngware Area 46, Area 56 and Stage 2 as the areas reportedly taken over criminal gangs.

Maurice Ambula a resident of the area says that the marauding gang walks around in machetes and other crude weapons unleashing their terror on residents.

According to Ambula, the most recent incident happened on Monday where the gang made up of young people chopped off a man’s hand in a robbery incident.

“We are worried as businessmen and residents living around Soko Mjinga. Our lives are threatened because recently one person was attacked by robbers, wounded and he died while he was being rushed to Kenyatta Hospital for treatment,” Ambula stated.

Mary Nabwire has also expressed fear over her life after another criminal gang allegedly sent threats to her.

Nabwire says that the threats started coming after she reportedly sounded an alarm against one of the gang members she had caught attempting to vandalize her neighbour’s motorbike.

“The motorbike  was packed outside  in the compound  so when I called  the neighbour  who was the owner, the next day  they came back  and told  me that they would  stab me with to silence  me,” said Nabwire.

The insecurity incidents have also affected businesses in Kawangware with most businessmen being forced to close early.

The residents are now pleading with the government to mount floodlights in the area to curb the rising cases of insecurity.
