Delisted
The government has closed down Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s church.
The notification for closure or deregistration is contained in today’s Kenya Gazette notice.
The aggrieved pastor, through his team of lawyers led by Danstan Omari, Martina Swiga, has been instructed to make an appeal to the Attorney General to revoke the deregistration of New Life Ministry Church.
The lawyer told journalists at Milimani law court that the pastor’s file has been missing in the office of the registrar of societies for a long period of time.
Consequently, the pastor has been unable to make returns as required by the law despite many latters written to the registrar to avail of the investigated fofile.
The appeal made to the AG will act as a stay to the decision of the registrar for a period of 90 days.
Consequently, the lawyers will be filing a judicial review application seeking orders to quash the decision of the registrar.
Troubled Man
Pastor Ezekiel was arrested in April 2023, where the state sought to have him detained for 30 days, but the court sitting in Shanzu declined and gave the state five days.
