Third Suspect In Ksh. 72 Million Heist Hid Money In Grandmother’s House


Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with Ksh. 72 Million and recovered Ksh 2.3 Million.

One of the suspects John Kamau Mulei was arrested in Kalumoni in Machakos County alongside his 60 year old grandmother Mary Kyalo.

Mulei reportedly led investigators to his grandmother’s house where he had stored the money.

“Upon his arrest at Muumandu village in Machakos, Kamau led the detectives to his grandmother (2nd suspect)~60-yr-old Mary Kyalo~ in whose house the Money was recovered. Officers still combing the scene as further investigations continue. Necessary police action being take,” tweeted the DCI.

Police say Mulei is the brother to Bernard Mwendwa a G4S officer who was arrested last week on Thursday.

The Ksh. 72 Million disappeared when criminals posing police officers reportedly stole money meant for the Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Nairobi West on 5th of September.

Six suspects, including three police officers, have since been arrested and arraigned in court where they were released on Ksh.1 million bond.
