This is Why We Did Not Attend Sakaja’s Swearing In, Azimio MCAs Speak
Nairobi Assembly Azimio Coalition MCAs have defended themselves for not attending the inauguration event of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja saying they cannot share a podium with President-elect William Ruto.
While addressing the media at Cityhall the ward representatives say they do not recognize Ruto as president elect and their attendance could invalidated Azimio’s presence in Supreme Court.
“Yesterday we received invitations for the inaugural functions of the governor of Nairobi his excellency Johnson Sakaja, for us as Azimio Coalition we do not recognize president elect William Ruto…we could not be part of that function and should make us part of the function Sakaja won the election and we have no issue with him and we will support Sakaja in his quest,” Imwatok told the media.
Same sentiments were echoed by Geoffrey Majiwa of Babadogo ward who asked Sakaja to remain truthful to all Nairobi MCAs.
“We got invitations yesterday but we asked whether DP Ruto will attend the inaugural event but he said no … unfortunately we saw him today and we had to leave,” Majiwa said.
Sakaja in his speech asked political leaders to work closely with him despite their political affiliation for betterment of the city.
“I want to thank former leaders and we aspire to take it to higher heights and to the citizen of Nairobi they proved our aspirations and we voted across tribal lines…and truly showed what they need…by today a youth in Kibra,Mathare,Dandora Roysambu can now say it was a dream….my target will focus on common Nairobian at large there is no masaai hunger no Akamba potholes we jirani Yako ndio ndugu Yako, mko mbele tu sana,” Sakaja stated in his inaugural speech.
