Jamaican singer Sophia George is known for her hit song Girlie girlie. Born in 1964, Sophia George was a teacher training the deaf.

This was up until she met her husband Ronald Chung who encouraged her to sing and later turned to be her manager.

The song Girlie girlie which was released in 1985 not only topped the Jamaican charts but also made it to the top 10 charts in the UK.

Unfortunately Sophia George turned to be a one hit wonder. Her efforts to make more music hit a snag, forcing her to retire from music and take care of her family.

This however bore fruits because her son was to become a star.
