THREE suspected notorious M-pesa Fraudsters who were arrested by the DCI on Friday are expected to be arraigned in court.
The three suspects have allegedly been operating across the country and defrauding unsuspecting Mpesa operators of their cash.
The three Jacktone Odhiambo Opondo, Millicent Wanjiru Maina and John Karuku were arrested on Friday afternoon. The DCI detectives recovered 3,000 Safaricom line, both registered and unregistered .
“To execute their fraud, the suspects approach Mpesa Agents as dealers in pretext of selling sim cards & other products at discounted prices, and in the process switch the agents’ Mpesa phones before flushing their float,” said the DCI.
Opondo who is reportedly the leader of the faction was arrested at Belbur Nobility Flats located at Egerton in Njoro-Nakuru County.
“The team furthered their operation to Juja in Kiambu County, where 31-yr-old Millicent Wanjiru Maina & John Karuku Kabue were also nabbed at Muigai Inn, being accomplices of the first suspect,” said a statement by the DCI.
