Tired Nairobi Estate Residents Threaten To Kill Thugs
A section of Dandora Phase Three residents have threatened to take matters into their own hands to address the rising rate of insecurity in the area.
The residents claim that a gang of knife wielding thugs has been reigning terror on them since the beginning of this year.
“We have reported these thugs to the police at the Kinyago Police Station, to the AP at Phase Five but nothing has happened,|” stated one resident.
“We now want to deal them personally because thugs are supposed to be killed because they also stab to kill,” he stated.
Maina, one of the residents who spoke to Ghetto Radio news says that last week alone three people were accosted and stabbed by the same gang.
The three include two women who were stabbed and seriously injured on Saturday night.
Maina claims that the efforts to work with police officers to have them address the insecurity issue have been futile.
“The police arrest them, take them to cells, then release them on police bonds. Once they realise that the criminal comes from a rich family, they make it a norm of taking money from the family and releasing them,” stated Maina.
The residents also faulted the judiciary for releasing the criminals on cash bails.
Sub County Police Commander Adamson Bungei has however defended the police saying they are currently addressing the issue.
Bungei has further appealed to the residents to work with the police and help them address the situation instead of taking matters into their own hands.
