Nairobi County Assembly leaders have called for a cease fire and now want Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko to have a round table meeting with MCAs, Nairobi Metropolitan Services and discuss a way forward for the county’s’ financial year 2020/2021 budget.
Led by majority leader Charles Thuo the MCAs say they don’t want a scenario where the governor will come again and reject a passed budget using other arms to frustrate the operations of the county and NMS as witnessed in the recent revoked supplementary budget.
‘‘This is handshake assembly the issue of Jubilee and ODM are in the past let’s now focus on pushing the government agendas and service delivery . That’s why we are asking governor Sonko to sit down with NMS and agree but we are not out of options if he continue stepping on us then we shall sit down and decide his fate.’’ Thuo said.
The same were echoed by minority leader David Mberia who asked president Uhuru Kenyatta to take action on those who are derailing NMS effectiveness in Nairobi.
‘‘We are asking the president to use the same razor he used in the assembly to bring sanity in Nairobi, but as MCAs if Sonko continues this way we shall impeach him,’’ he added.
