County Chief Officer Lands Nairobi City county SG Mwangi has come under fire for what the Pac Committee Nairobi City County assembly terms as ‘person of interest’ on grabbed City Park Land.
In the 2016/2017 audit report, there was encroachment of city park land with one facility being Bowling and Green restaurant linked to former chief of staff George Wainaina .
Today PAC committee toured the land and found out that there is also an investment of residential flats amounting to ksh. 1 billion and all acquisition have also been linked to SG Mwangi who also served in the same position in governor Kideros’ regime.
According PAC chairman Wilfred Odalo, they invited SG Mwangi to accompany them to the site and shade light but to their surprise he did not show up.
‘‘Yes we sent a letter inviting him to accompany us today and as you can see he has literally absconded, this is a clear show of conflict of interest.’’Odalo told the media.
The same sentiments were echoed by Minority whip Peter Jateso Imwatok who accused Mwangi for being elusive.
He now wants governor Mike Sonko to fire him saying SG has not been taking his duties seriously and lack respect to the assembly.
‘‘We have established that Mwangi himself has flats here and at some moment he told us that he was forced by Wainaina to sign on the land ,where bowling and green was built.’’ Imwatok noted.
When we contacted Mwangi, he defended himself saying he sent a competent officer to represent him. Asked what he knows about the encroached land and Bowling and green Saga he became furious and at some point told our reporters to write whatever they like.
‘‘I sent an officer there am busy,[Mimi mambo ya manyumba hapo sijui sina nyumba na kama ni hiyo msiniambie mwandike kitu mnataka ] house issue i don’t know if thats the case then write as you wish]’’ He said.
