Total Launches Season Two Of Best Mechanic Challenge


Total Energies on Sunday launched season two of the search for the best mechanic challenge countywide in Nairobi.

The contest kicked off at Pumwani Boys High School playing ground, bringing together over 350 mechanics drawn from different automobiles garages within Nairobi.

According to the Total Energies Nairobi Branch Executive Marketing and Services Officer Patience Wanjala, the event was aimed at giving both semiskilled and skilled mechanic a hands on experience and also identifying the most competent mechanic.

“Today we are here to make merry with mechanics, give better experience and also identify exceptional skills in the automotive industry,” Wanjala said.

The petroleum and services company will be crisscrossing the country for two months as the search continues, a champion to be crowned in the contest’s grand finale.

“The search for the best is a countrywide challenge, we have strated with Nairobi, we will go to Mombasa, Kisumu and other major towns, and we are highly excited to crown the champion. Apart from that we will also give toolboxes to each participant,” Wanjala added.


Among the participants that turned up for the challenge was Grace Mbula, a 25 year old female mechanic in the male dominated industry based in Grogon, who exhibited a rare anxiety to win the contest.

 “I am so optimistic and I believe in myself and my skills, I have never been to such contests but I believe I will win the grand prize,Toyota Hilux,” Wanjala said.

Some of the challenges poised on the participants were filter challenge where the contestant is expected to use filter wrench to open a filter, a spanner challenge that requires the participant to losen bolts with a corresponding spanners within stipulated timeframe.
