A tout who reportedly physically assaulted a police officer on patrol along Tom Mboya street has been charged with assault and offensive conduct.

Patrick Mwangi Muhoho is accused of assaulting police constable Josephine Ongale on 16th November 2023 at around 1938 hours by pushing her to hit her head on a stationary vehicle.

The officer suffered a head injury.

Constable Josephine and her colleagues were on routine patrol when they received information that two touts were harassing passengers and other motorists and proceeded there immediately.

The two touts who were fighting over control of the stage on spotting the officers who were in uniform fled. However they caught up with Mwangi who allegedly pushed Josephine.

The officers eventually managed to handcuff Mwangi and escorted him central police station.

Bruised constable Josephine was treated at an area hospital and the documents filed as evidence against Mwangi

Mwangi denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Martha Nazushi at Milimani law court.

He was released on bond of ksh 100000 with a surety of similar amount or alternative of ksh 50000.

The case will come up for mention on 5th December 2023
