Trey Songz, the celebrated American R&B singer, has been ordered to pay more than $11 million equivalent to Ksh. 1.4 Billion  in damages to Tyrelle Dunn, a police officer who was physically assaulted by Songz and his security team in 2021.

The incident occurred after Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, celebrated his birthday in Las Vegas and brought several women to his hotel room.

One of the women accused him of rape, prompting her husband, Officer Dunn, to rush to the scene after receiving a panic call from his wife.

Believing his wife was being held against her will, Dunn arrived at the hotel and attempted to intervene.

However, upon his arrival, he was reportedly attacked by Songz and his security personnel. The assault left Officer Dunn with serious injuries, including fractured eye sockets and permanent scarring.

After a thorough investigation, the court ruled that Songz was liable for the injuries sustained by Officer Dunn during the confrontation.

As part of the ruling, Songz has been ordered to pay a substantial sum of over $11 million. This amount will cover a range of damages, including Dunn’s medical expenses, pain and suffering, and punitive damages.
