A Nairobi court has sentenced two terror convicts to 19 years in prison.

The convicts, Abdimajit Hassan Adan Hassan, Osman, and Nyawira, were convicted after the prosecution proved that they planned to bomb the Supreme Court of Kenya and Parliament, KICC buildings in February 2018.

The third convict, Lydia Nyawira will serve 3 years in jail after she was convicted for offense of forgery.

In 2018, the suspects denied any involvement in plotting to attack the court buildings and rescue Sheikh Guyo Gorsa, who was detained on charges related to terrorism.

However,during the hearing,the prosecution paraded 15 witnesses, among them an expert who testified that first accused person was found in possession of
improvised explosive devices (IEDs), including seven projectile bombs, with the intent to commit a terrorist act.

Anthony Kitila Makau and Francis Macharia Karishu were found innocent and acquitted of the charges.

Police asserted that the suspects planned to carry out an attack at the Milimani Chief Magistrate’s Court on February 16, coinciding with Mr. Gorsa’s scheduled appearance on terror-related charges.

The detectives also discovered five AK-47 rifles, 36 fully loaded magazines, 36 hand grenades, 18 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), three military knives, a black flag, and other paraphernalia associated with the Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
