Tuju bars Ruto from accessing party headquarters, recommends his removal from party leadership

Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju now wants Deputy President William Ruto to be removed from his position as the Deputy Party Leader.

Tuju who was speaking at the Jubilee Party Headquarters today has also barred Ruto from using the Jubilee Party headquarters in Pangani for his political ambition.

Tuju says this follows the recent actions of Ruto that saw him visit Pangani Headquarters with more than 30 Jubilee Party MPs.

“We would like to be absolutely clear, that we serve one President at a time. The DP, a self-declared 2022 presidential candidate, will not be allowed to use the party HQ as a centre of operationalization of his campaigns and for intimidation,” said Tuju.

According to Tuju, it took swift intervention from the party leadership to avoid a confrontation between the Mps allied to DP Ruto and those allied to the President following the impromptu visit.

“Yesterday, the DP turned up at the party HQ with more than 30 MPs, many of them known abusers of the President…foul-mouthed MPs that are on record attacking government projects like Huduma Namba. That move almost created an ugly confrontation with close to 40 MPs not allied to him congregating at the Serena Hotel and demanding to come to the headquarters,” said Tuju.

“It took skillful persuasion to prevail on the other group not to be sent on the party headquarters for confrontation that may have turned very ugly,” said Tuju.
